EchoPlus: Next Steps in Echocardiography

Course Overview: For delegates who have attended an “Echo – What?” Part 1 course, or are confident in the standard right parasternal echocardiography views, this course delivers a case based, practical training session to continue building your confidence and skills.

The day focusses on continued practical learning including further optimisation of your right sided views, the use of both colour and spectral Doppler, and the use of the left sided echocardiographic views.

Where possible, delegates should bring some example cases they have examined during their time in practice. These can be cases you’ve either felt confident in or would like further assistance to aid your progression.

For case discussion please bring with you:

  • Clinical history of the patient
  • Images or cineloops – saved to a USB or your mobile device

A case-based discussion will follow the practical elements, including considerations for cardiac case decision making.

With two Veterinary Cardiologists leading the day, this course presents an in-depth small group learning experience and 1:1 teaching from specialists.

Course Content:

  • Further optimise your right-sided practical echocardiography
  • Understand the principles of Doppler, and how and when to use it
  • Learn to perform left-sided echo views and which cases these can be utilised in
  • Case discussion: what have you seen recently? Use the ‘hive mind’ to discuss recent cases and cardiac decision making

Available Dates: 28th February 2025 (Derby)

Speakers:

  • Chris Linney BVSc(Hons), Cert AVP (Veterinary Cardiology), DipECVIM, MRCVS, RCVS Recognised Specialist in Veterinary Cardiology, EBVS European Veterinary Specialist in Internal Medicine – Companion Animals
  • Fabio Sarcinella DVM DipECVIM-CA (Cardiology) MRCVS, Diplomate of the European College of Small Animal Cardiology, RCVS Recognised Specialist in Veterinary Cardiology

Delegates: Places on each practical training session are strictly limited to 12 delegates and will be further limited based upon the number of dogs available for training. Delegates are kindly requested to bring a dog with them for the duration of the course day, if possible. It is important that the dogs can be clipped as required for an abdominal ultrasound examination.

Every delegate who brings a dog that can be examined on the course day will be gifted a £50 Amazon Voucher.
