Position Summary and Key accountabilities
The Product Marketing Manager designs the strategy for defining, launching, optimizing, and phasing out one or more product lines in alignment with the company’s strategic development goals.
In this role, he/she is responsible for product marketing throughout the product lifecycle to ensure profitable growth of the portfolio, notably through pricing strategies aimed at increasing revenue in line with the company’s objectives.
Working Relationships
The Product Marketing Manager reports hierarchically to the Global FA Imaging Marketing Director. They will interact with numerous internal stakeholders such as the After-Sales Service, the R&D department (co-development of products, project initiative, launch, and marketing project management), production and quality departments (validation of deviations), finance (ensuring reliability of financial assumptions), purchasing (information sharing), as well as the company’s sales department (influencing marketing plan execution). He/she also collaborates with external partners (negotiation and coordination).
They may be required to interact with senior management (presenting projects and strategies).
They will engage with customers identified as end-users to understand their needs, distributors to identify indirect sales channels, and industrial partners to leverage technologies not available within the company.
Key Responsibilities
- Anticipating potential buyers’ needs and imagining future solutions to differentiate the company’s offer in the market.
- Conducting market studies and competitor analysis to summarize findings. Defining usage habits and evolving customer expectations.
- Proposing the product or product range that will meet these expectations.
- Developing the strategy for product launch, optimization, and end-of-life following the four Ps: product, price, promotion, place, and managing the KPIs previously defined with his/her manager to track progress.
- Implementing corrective actions to improve a product by adapting it to market trends until the product is phased out.
- Training and informing sales teams about the offer’s features.
- Launching products while adhering to the marketing budget.
- Monitoring sales performance, gross margin of product lines, and other KPIs.
- Continuously monitoring the domain (monthly sales, competitive innovations).
- Identifying and implementing actions to improve performance within the framework of continuous improvement.
- Significantly increasing the understanding of needs expressed by various stakeholders in the market across multiple species.
- Creating a product marketing content that resonates with the key customers’ needs and their personas and helps with their decision-making process.
- In addition to these activities, the company may assign other tasks relevant to the job scope.
Associated Responsibilities and Scope of Action
- The Product Marketing Manager is responsible for maintaining the balance between growth and profitability requirements for the product range.
- He/she must act as the voice of the customer within the company and drive necessary changes to the product range to meet emerging demands. He/she is proactive in proposing innovative projects for the NPD process.
- He/she is responsible for creating and adhering to the marketing expense budget within their scope.
- Weekly monitoring of activities is conducted, and in case of difficulties, decisions are escalated to the hierarchical manager.
- He/she is responsible for on-the-job training and communicating safety instructions.
- He/she ensures personal safety.
The Person
Previous Experience and skills
- Nationality: Open
- Languages: Native English preferred. French is a plus.
- With a Master’s degree with specialized experience in Marketing.
- Expertise in B2B product marketing (understanding customer needs and buying behaviors, communication, and storytelling).
- Marketing project management.
- Proficiency in computer tools and software associated with the role.
- Excellent oral skills in English and ideally French in order to develop and communicate Key Selling Points to sales teams and customers.
- Minimum of 8 to10 years of relevant experience in Product Marketing or product marketing management. Demonstrated ability to build strong Value Propositions.
- Experience in imaging technology product marketing or veterinary industry is desirable.
