In honor of Veterinary Nurse Awareness Month<\/a>, we’re thrilled to shine a spotlight on one of our own, Amy Thomson<\/a>. As both a veterinary nurse and Vesco Account Manager, Amy brings a unique perspective to her role. In her latest blog post, she shares insights into her favorite Vesco products<\/a> that have revolutionised patient care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When I first found out that we were getting a video otoscope that wirelessly transmits to a separate screen, it felt like the stars were finally aligning. We\u2019ve all seen those nervous dogs, who tolerate more than their fair share of us invading their personal space before we bring our faces inescapably close to their own. By improving the comfort and success of our aural examinations, we can not only enhance the relationships we have with our patients, but with our clients too. Through the separate screen, or even connecting to multiple screens, we can allow owners to have a visible reference for what the vet is describing. Better yet, they will be able to see the \u201cbefore and after\u201d effects of their treatment plan \u2013 evidence that will undoubtedly improve client compliance. Additionally, using the SD card storage, we can store images or videos with the patient\u2019s record. Helpful for those all too frequent times where our diaries don\u2019t align with that of our patient\u2019s busy schedules.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Endoscopy<\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

When the otoscope arrived, I learned that not only does it have a sheath with a soft silicone tip for patient comfort (the thought instantly warmed my heart), but also 5 others! My favourite accessory are the (cutest) tiny graspers. Gone are the days where you\u2019d be trying to simultaneously navigate the crocodile forceps obstructing your view while cocking your head to the side and squinting for visibility to grab that grass seed! Other heads include a guide sheath for use with instruments (such as the ear curette that is included with this kit), and a rounded, spatula-shaped sheath for examining rabbit\u2019s mouths. With all these sheaths being autoclavable, my nursing core started to sing. This set also includes an insufflation machine with tubing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
