Introduction to Abdominal Ultrasound (Online + Practical)
Course Overview: This course aims to give you the confidence to perform an ultrasound examination of the abdominal cavity and optimise your images using the equipment you have available in practice. Through a combination of text, videos, animations and interactive content, we will cover a logical and methodical approach to ultrasonography which will enable you to identify and fully evaluate all the major abdominal organs. As artefacts are common in ultrasound, we will help you to recognise them and explore the root causes for each. Additionally, we will begin to explore the interpretation and reporting of changes seen on ultrasound examination.
Following completion of the online course, the practical training will allow you to put your knowledge into practice on real dogs. We will review the key controls and approach to abdominal ultrasound examinations, before practicing the techniques used to evaluate each of the major abdominal organs in turn. The practical training focusses on giving you hands-on ultrasound practice in a supportive, relaxed environment, guided by the IMV imaging Clinical Team.
Delegates: Places on each practical training session are strictly limited to 12 delegates and will be further limited based upon the number of dogs available for training. Delegates are kindly requested to bring a dog with them for the duration of the course day, if possible. It is important that the dogs can be clipped as required for an abdominal ultrasound examination.
Available Dates: 27th February 2025, 3rd April 2025, TBC
